Connect on My Disk connector to Nextcloud (video)

onMyDisk connector

After the unboxing, next step to connect the box on the internet and the service.

Connect the onydisk connector to router

First of all, you have to connect the box on your router using an ethernet cable from the box.

Then you have to connect it and boot up. Personally, I added a power bank between the power and the connector. I am not sure if it is the best practice. I was thinking to use a power bank as UPS or a voltage protector. So the ARM board in the connector and the SD card will be protected (especially the SD card brakes easily).

After you plugged the power, the box will turn Green and then Blue. If the color is Red, it means there's a problem. Either reboot or create the SD again. Not sure about troubleshooting now. Will come to that later.

Personally, I plugged a 64GB USB. You can also plug a SATA disk. It is up to you.

Connect the onydisk connector to Nextcloud

The next step is to connect the box on your Nextcloud.

1. Create an account:

https://onmydisk.net/

2. Visit either http://connector.local or the local IP (I can find it either on the terminal or using Fing application on my phone) of your connector.

3. You will be prompted for username and password. Use the following:

Username: admin
Password: onmydisk

4. On the next page, you will see much information but the one that will be used by you is a green button saying Link to your account. Click on it and wait.

5. You will be prompted to the account you created on the first step. There you will be asked to click on the Link button. That action will link the onmydisk connector to your Nextcloud.

Wait until you see a message in a green box saying Storage successfully linked.

Using onydisk connector

1. Upload a file when you are at home: open your file explorer. You will see the Connector on the Network devices. If you don't, then the addresses you can use are

- Windows: \\connector\disks
- Linux/macosx: smb://connector/disks

Open the connector and you will see the SD card and the USB/SADA disk. Click on the storage and upload the file you want.

2. Upload a file when you out of your home: open the browser and move to:

https://files.onmydisk.com/

Use the credentials of the Nextcloud.
You will find a folder named CONNECTOR. Click on it and you will find the 2 disks. Click on any of them and upload a file.

3. A solution regardless of where you are, is the mobile application. Download the application Nextcloud (Android, iOS). Add https://files.onmydisk.com/ as server URL and the credentials and you can see your Nextcloud+Connector.

Small tip: The connector has a miniDLNA installed. If you have a smart TV at home, you can watch some movies locally.
